    new photos
    and a box
This visor belongs to the person i know, he told me that during the war his grandfather serve in generals house. From that place came that visor. He's got a lot of staff and all original IMHO, but i'm not an expert.

I think the cap has a very good chance to be good. The sweatband ist 100% replaced and in my opinion it look as it is made during the war.
How knows why the sweatband ist replaced
Did the General hate EREL Sweatbands? Maby an collector got it years ago without the sweatband and replaced the best he got in that time?
      Who knows?!?!

The cap is made around 1941-42 and has the vented hold. I think it was an Extra because most Privat had the green lining.

Absoluty interesting is the source!! Where does the cap come from?
The cap is in this condition without any provenance absolut not Textbook but I would take it for a fair price.

      Cheers,

No doubt the sweatband is replaced. However, I doubt it was done wartime- it looks like it was done by an amateur collector or someone who didn't know what they were doing. other than that, I personally like the hat.

Is there a ventilation grommet behind the cockarde?

Could have a grommet. Better pics would be helpful.

Looks like there is foam rubber, then some sort of white felt, then an Orange sponge? Not textbook for the era.

For this era (pre-patent-pending), they were not using the vented cockade.

If it is a patent-pending era hat, the hat should have the grommet.

I wouldn't mind seeing some pics from a little farther back instead of the extreme close-up's....

You can "right click" on the photos and save them to your computer, then "left, double click" on them and they will open up in your computers default picture viewer at a more normal size.

It's really hard from these pictures to get a true feel for the shape of the cap, which I think would tell us a lot. My money is on some sort of rebuilt visor at best - I don't like the interior at all. The exterior wool looks good to me, but I'd like to see two or three shots form a foot or two away.

Visor has been restitched , also has an appearance like it was painted with something like white shoe polish....as I see the uneven finish near the edge...I like the piping, but would the makers mark be printed to the sweat shield ? Seems the marks were under that...I may be wrong...but like the other guy said...if its reasonable ...its worth buying, as it has some redeeming qualitys....too bad the eagle is missing...I saw one of the gold eagles somewhere a while back.....but I think its gone now. One thing I always look at is where in the back the piping comes together ...it should be expertly stitched so it almost appears like it is one piece where it butt seams together. I like it. Not sure about the hat box...that could have been for another hat and just put in it...anybody know about the box?

The box could be anywhere from the 1880s to the 1950's. The giant photos aren't helping.
