They both look like private purchase (cellon) tallies to me. Did you check with Dani Falk?

I have just sent him a e-mail asking what he thinks about them. I know he's going ofshore on monday, so hopefully I will catch him before he leaves.

                Best regards,
                André

Hello André, can you post close ups of the letters please, at first sight these caps ribbons look very fresh ...

I think they were unissued/not purchased. Perhaps were in a bundle.

Close ups or higher resolution would not hurt of course.

Better images are probably not possible since they are off the KW site.

I think the worry here is that these are two Narvik destroyers and therefore rare and normally expensive.

Since the tallies are cellon, you would think or assume the tallies were made well after 1940. In other words, you would expect the tallies to be metal or cotton (artificial silk) to have existed prior to the ships being sunk.

It is possible of course that the cellon examples were made after the sinkings but before the war ended.

I personally prefer cotton examples of these destroyers or at least gold wire/metal.

                      John

I don't believe that german economy at war got any orders issued by the naval command for cap tallies of sunken ships ...

You have to help me out here John. Could you please explain to me what the cellon means when it comes to cap tallies? Are these considered post-war?
