    Best reference book?

    Hello all,

I was wondering what you would recommend as a good reference book for cloth caps, focus on Luftwaffe?

    Thanks

    Hi Rich,

I'd go for "Headgear of Hitler's Germany, Volume 1: Heer - Kriegsmarine - Luftwaffe"
by Halcomb / Saris / Spronk. It's an out-of-print Bender book, but you can still find it on the net.

    Cheers
    Karl

      Thanks for the suggestion.

Does it go into detail on features to look for in originals or is it mainly a reference book in that just external/internal shots to catalogue types of caps but very little detail on individual makers?

What I am trying to get at is is the detail contained therein good enough to ascertain originality?

IMHO, the best book on collecting cloth headgear is still " The Collectors Guide to Cloth Third Reich Military Headgear" by Gary Wilkins, published by Schiffer Books.
Any serious collector should own this book.
