    Crusher like fieldcap opinions..

    Hi,
I was hoping to get a few opinions on this cap i had on estand

The leatherschirm is a replacement and the sweatband and swastika is missing..
It is very lightweight, and has no real padding, also the cap band even though it is cardboard is thin and pliable..
The wreath is machine sewn at the top and bottom through the pasteboard but not at the sides..
The cap band is really pale green as seen on reichwehr caps

Unusual liner color but I have absolutely no problem with this piece. Clearly no Schirmmütze as seen by the pasteboard material and the insignia application is also textbook.

A shame that it is denazified in this way. Had they just torn off the entire eagle, it would make the decision much easier regarding the restoration...

Cap is a Reichswehr Visorcap which have maybee been period altered to a Crusher style (Alter art) cap.

The cap was born with a visorcap bill as one can see from preivios holes, it have had sidebuttons sewn to it and the threads are still remaining.

Cap have at some stage gotten lining taken down, flatwire crusher insignias have been sewn with machine to the paper pasteboard at top and bottom and with hand at the sides. At this time the capspring have also been removed to give the cap a Crusher look.

Cap is missing sweatband and it may have been altered at the same time as sweatband should have been replaced but for some reason it was not made.

The cap is absolutely not a original crsuher cap, crusher caps are fully foldable, they have a pasteboard made of eather black, white or tan gauze which may or may not be laquered for strength. That material is fuklly crushable, this is not. As seen on the pictures the paperpasteboard have broken due to folding. The material may feel a bit soft where it have been folded bit that is just because it have been folded to brake. It was never intended to be folded as no Visorcap was.

Still it is a nice cap which have been altered at some time, but have none of a crushers treats. Nothing is "textbook" applyed on this cap as it would if it where a born crusher cap!
