Outstanding GJ portrait and very interesting Bergmütze. I would say that it's a private purchased cap with more of the Reichwehr styling which had a 'coffee can' shape to it and the fact that it has faux turn down flaps.

yes , for sure a private purchase , I find also interesting the use of machine applied two pieces insigna instead of the T shaped one

It was a fairly common practice to use a separate eagle and cockade if the T-form insignia was not available to the hat maker.

Private cap for sure , or a modified issue one ...
Photographs had nicer caps ,even nicer uniforms ready to supply for
the souvenirs portraits ?
Some of the customers were not satisfied with the normal uniforms they had !
You can see that also in any Army ...
