This was sold to me as an Army Panzer cap. I am no expert on "cuts" but it looks a lot more like SS Panzer to me. Could it be? Is it possible to tell without insignia?

I was hoping for a little more on this piece. I did see an unissued SS hat on this forum that was identical in every way to this hat. Exact cut, exact material [outside and liner] and white stamp. It just had the insignia on it. Don't most fire hats have a different type wool or cotton material? Blue liner or red piping? All the fire police caps I can find pics of have some slight detail that differs from this cap.Comment

LW or police cut , not a typical text book WSS cut ...
Why not used by the WSS but in that case you have to find it directly from a
good source and with original applied badges or clear traces of them .
