The skull is the unmarked 'Deschler-like' style but there seems to be a stipled texture to the surface ... as I told another gentleman yesterday I would need a clear straight-on shot to be 100%.
For the record I also told him I was dubious of the liner and sweatband stitching based on other shots I saw.
The finish of the skull at this resolution doesn't seem off, but the raised crease that extends across the forehead area looks like a casting flaw to me.
A peak at the back would tell us all we need to know, but that's not likely.
The liner and sweatband color and texture is the same as a few examples in Beaver's book. The underside of the visor color and finish seems a bit off, but the real story is the rough machine stitching to the sweatbaand, white gauze behind the skull area, and black thread used to sew the liner material.

I'm in complete agreement. Underneath the sweatband is some extermely rough stitching, there is white gauze behind the liner band, crude black stitching that secures the liner - the cap is bad.
The skull is formed correctly, but has a long lateral casting flaw that looks like a scratch, but it's actually raised. I think the skull is bad, but maybe it's the photo.
