By the book 12 mm there are other sized buttons found on original M-43 caps as well.

Not really, most books just give a general overview with some measurements, order numbers,
dates for changes. There is a good book that covers SS head gear that includes M43s,
The Collector's Guide to the Distinctive Cloth Headgear of the Allgemeine and Waffen-SS by Beaver and Shea.

Size small like all the shirts buttons for example ?
Not only the small pebbled buttons ( you will never see them on a shirt ) were worn on a M43 but also bakelite , metal , glass .
