            Upgraded

NCO cap that has had insignia replaced, as to when (postwar) ?

Not uncommon to see NCO caps upgraded wartime and postwar to Crusher style or Officer cap

Contract cap with crusher insignia? Not one I would take a chance on.

Indeed, this is a contract enlisted cap that was turned into a crusher. Period done, or postwar?
Given the cost for an alter art cap, I would want a "no questions" cap, so I personally would pass on this one.

We all know too often the term crusher is loosely applied intently to associate it with a feldmutze alter art piece to influence it as something it is not.

Its one of those caps that you could never be sure of. If it were really cheap I would consider it, but since EM/NCOs were never actually allowed to wear the "Crusher" caps many tried ti make their caps resemble them. If you want an alter art or true crusher I would wait and spend the money for an unquestionable one. Greg B has a very nice salty one on the forum for sale. That is what one should look like. Matt

Effects the overall look or demeanor of a crusher but could never really be one with that vulkan fiber visor.....Bob Shoaf's post is most pertinent.

I picked up a similar conversion early in my collecting career. Someone went to the trouble of replacing the peak with a leather one. Fortunately I was able to return it.
