Sunday at the Ciney militaria show,one dealer was selling a white top H J leader cap
i have no photo to show you,but the piping was silver,and the cap was realy like new,the price was incredibly cheap :2200 euros,less than 3000$,and i remembered what an old collector told me "when you dont feel it,it is probably fake"
anybody has already seen that kind of high level quality replica
ah,i remember also,the sweat diamond was in the good material
and no RZM tag

The spelling of Deibel's name is Deibel, not Diebel.

I saw this cap also but i don't think it has something to do with the old
Deibel-Janke repros ?
The diamond was without this nasty eagle you can find on the Deibel's fakes
for example ?
Condition was not mint but VGC ? I can imagine a cap like this was not worn very often and not for a very long time ?
That was the first time i saw one like this but the price is not determining
so surely the fact of being repro or not ?
"Good surprises" regarding prices are still possible ?
Especially in Ciney where there's so much to see ? And not really a show
for "specialists" able to pay a fortune for rare items ?
I had good opportunities also on that day as some people need quick money ,
willing to sell on that day !
Not wait 6 months until the next Ciney show ?

The hat is fake that has bounced around like a pinball in pinball machine for at least the last 10 years, if not longer.

I'm sorry but i remember very well the cap we are talking about from Ciney and i can tell you it was totally not the one on the picture ?
I know Deibel old repros and it was not the case ...
Fixed top made in gabardine and alu eagle for the one i saw,
no RZM tag also ?
Or we had 2 HJ white leader's cap on the same show ?

In case anyone is confused, all of the hats in this thread are fakes.

In 40 years of collecting, I have yet to see an original, but plenty of fakes of varying quality--and I doubt there is an original in existence today.
