The piping appears to be genuinely gold, but oxidized. The wreath/cockade is fake and the cap band is more narrow than it should be, IMO. Is the lining installed facing in the wrong direction? Totally re-built early Bundesluftwaffe General? Need more photos and an "in hand" look.

Leroy, I agree--cockade/wreath does not even come close to matching the patina of the alleged gold bullion piping. No way I would touch this one w/o an in-hand.

Hmm, was the piping really golden before the oxidation set in? Don't have a comparison piece, unfortunately...

Even on the off-chance it is real (excepting the insignia, of course), the buyer still has to find a matching set of LW General's white-top insignia (good luck).

& even if that does occur, it will always be a restored cap....
