    Artillery Cap Alte At

This is another cap which worries me, as a.o. the leather of the peak and of the swaetband looks way too new.

    The sweatshield is cellulon.

All emblems are machine sewn to the cap.

I am about to return this cap but better make sure.

I'll go first and risk the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune - I think it's a modern visor based on what I see of the guts, generally poor sewing for what is supposedly period machine work, and the odd join to the piping. And what's up with the lining?

To me, this cap just screams repro, especially when looking at the interior. Nice for a re-enactor, but that's about it.

I agree on all the points brought up by Don. Cap looks like new construction not a mint period cap.

I agree, repro of a type I have not seen before.

I think they sewed an original liner OVER the repro liner. Somebody went through a lot of trouble for a not overly convincing cap.

Clearly not a period made visor. Made to deceive. J

And what can we say about the eagle and the cocard themselves gentlemen ? Are they also rubbish or did they use originals to try and pull it of as an original set up ?
