    Overseas Cap Marking Help

    Hello All,

Would be grateful for anyone's help on the B.II.40 marking on this cap. I'm assuming a unit (II. Bn 40th Artillery Regiment ??) marking but if so, the form is unusual. As can be seen by the remaining fabric in the 2nd photo, it is an old Artillery piece.

It is not a unit marking but rather a clothing depot stamp, '40 is the date and "B", I believe, is for Berlin.

Wondered about that but since the manufacture date is 1941 it did not make sense to me that it would be a depot date of 40?

          Yes odd, but probably original.

            Yes, quite comfortable with originality.

Just puzzled over the marking. I'd like to say there is always an answer but of course in this hobby the answer may be long gone. The knowledge in this community though is quite amazing.
