That trap is not original to the cap and wouldn't an officers M-43 has a partial sweatband? Ron

Plenty of officer M43s and sidecaps don't have sweatbands.

Agree.
Looks like a original cap IMO; trap is replaced but nothing wrong with an EM trap on a officer's cap as well.

looks ok to me, replaced or resewn trap but both hat and trap original

I have two officer M43s with EM traps machine stitched. Cap appears good but I find the what looks to be brown thread that this cap is stitched with a bit unusual.
