Did any one get this hat or even see it besides me? I kept a few pictures for 'research' reasons. Just wondering.

I have a stripped ss m-43 that has heer insignia applied in exactly the same manner (seperate cap eagle plus round cut out cocade). In my case I believe that although the insignia on mine are of the period that they were most likely post war applied which I think also appliers with yours. As for the cap,I would have to have it in hand to make a call, but from pics looks maybe o.k. On my former ss m43, the nap is different on the side of the flap and you can clearly see where a ss cap eagle was before, it has two horn type buttons and is unmarked and has lots of age and wear but no damage.Comment

Yeah, you are right it is a tough call, all though I have seen 2 piece insignia on caps, in hand and photos, sewn this way, but without it in my hand, who knows. A bit overdone for a fake though. I also have seen this stitching on top of the visor as well, not very often. Thanks.Comment

Sometimes Italian made M43's have stitching right through the visor like that and liners made of two different materials i.e. one material in the top and the other around the sides.
Could be an Italian made cap. When the badges were applied, who knows
but again Italian made M43's often have a seperate eagle & cockade rather than a trap,
