I sold this as a repo some 18 months ago, looks like someone has tried to age it between then and now

This is it when I sold it to Mark as a repro. Mark has also shown this cap on forums as a repro. It was in much better condition not long ago.
This was one of my early mistakes that I bought from a European dealer many years ago and sat in my collection for a very long time.

Agree Ben, however sscrooge (Dave) should 1st tell us where he came across the cap.

Quite possible the UK based WAF member I sold it to has passed it on , now with a third party who is now trying to sell it as an original.

Funny if it turn out be a militaria dealer, that would never happen

Has undergone quite some considerable aging to deceive thats for sure. It shouldn't be to hard to find out down the line when it was done.

I took the hit alright. It cost me quite a bit many years ago and finally parted with it for about $100 because Mark wanted it, otherwise it would still be sitting in the collection 'bad' box.

Hi guys , i saw it at a Militaria fair in Stockport yesterday, it had been sent to a dealer I know in offer as trade against a helmet he has for sale on his site , I have sent him pics of it as it was pre ageing and info and asked for NAND of guy who has offered it him but as yet not heard back from him , as for todays game Tim I'm sorry mate but city really do need to win to keep our ten point lead on the red scum 😄 rgds Dave
