Fellow collectors . . . I believe this to be a 1942 pattern cap based on the single grommets. The insignias are not the typical 1 piece "T" type but are of the 2 piece variety and somewhat crudely applied. The lining is unmarked and look sto be the grey rayon type. Thank you for your opinions!

Regardless of the grommet, based on the crown it could not be a converted M42.
I agree! M92! (made in 1992 or thereabouts with really bad insignia and even worse stitching
)
