    44th Infantry Div

I just got this really nice piece from the Klaus Butschek auction. It is one of those dream items that one is always looking out for, especially for me in view of my interest in Stalingrad and Monte Cassino. What makes it even better is that it is from the 44th Inf division, which were involved in both the battles. There is a mystery about the cocade, but here is an interesting twist about the visor, but more about that later. If anyone knows where I can find a flatwire cap eagle, especially a grey backed one , please let me know. J

That's such a cool set and the cap is just amazing!

I'm sure I've seen a period photo of a similar one with the Kokarde "enhanced" as it is here.

I'll try and find it amongst the hundreds of photos I have saved.

Super pick-up Jacques - a definite "been there & done that" piece. Is it named for further possible research?
