White top KM Donald Duck that glows

    White top KM Donald Duck that glows

    Hi folks,
    I recently aquired a white top KM donald duck and it glows like a T-shirt. Did they ever use a fabric for KM white tops that would glow like this? Would even a item that is dry-cleaned glow like this? I believe this item is going to be returned.

    Modern detergents which contain phosphor will cause a blacklight glow to old white fabric. In my experience it is an uneven glow. If the white top is removable, it might have been so washed and would not necessarily disqualify the cap. Or of you have an original cap with a replaced top, it still may be worth keeping as original tops can be found. Obviously, you want to look closely at the cap base to be certain you don't have an early Bundes / Volksmarine piece with a KM tally and eagle.

      I had a named Luftwaffe summer tunic that I picked up in Germany (sans eagle and insignia) and it glowed like a Christmas tree from having been washed.
