May be an original reworked cap for Osttruppen and the like.

Considering avaible pics of markings, the sewing line assembly visible in the top of the lining, lack of sweatband between lining and wool and its corresponding stiching line, at least it is not a regular M34 sidecap IMO.
I'm not convinced by its originality at this stage, but i keep an open mind to the hypothesis advanced by OSS.
