Dear all,

After a single study about " Henrich Balke", official producer of third reich caps, there is a book produced by the famous autor " Wilkins ", there whe can notice an production of : kriegsmarine,heer& tropical SS caps, at this point i've obtained an SS panzer sidecap, it's for me difficult to etablish a correct opignion of authenticity, for this one, can i have some serious feedback about this sidecap ?

nobody could judge it from a picture.
It's your job, saidly and it's quite impossible. Looks the thread used for stitching and get an opinion

The cap is not for SS, however but all could be possible.

I checked the tread seewings with my microscope, and they look for shure period.
The "Bevo " insigna are hand seewed with black tread, can not define that it as been done period, whe coul'd ???

Blacklight the threads and while under UV look for shadows of earlier insignia, that's all you can do really.

Of course Ian,

I've already do this, withe my lamp, no dubble holes at all, look at the rigth sigth of the eagle, the circular impression between the wool and the eagle is almost impossible to reproduce, it's a pitty you can have this hands !
I know that such pieces, are verry difficult to identify only onto photografic evidence, easy for the collector when it's lying next to him !!!
