Thoughts on this one? Cap looks good with high peek and short brim. I have seen a few of these before and this one looks good, but wanted to get opinions.

    Thanks

That is one high end cap for an NCO or enlisted soldier.

Original and high-end quality without a doubt!

That's an OFFICERS Bergmutze, private purchase in high quality doughskin wool with sterndrückfrei liner (black part showing)
+ officers quality flat wire silver "T" eagle insignia.
Early Bergmutzen for officers (like early Norway campaign, Crete) did NOT have silver crown piping...
Does not mean an NCO could not have owned it, another possibility of course, but the eagle is clearly officer quality flatwire!
Nice cap. Discussion belongs in the head gear section btw!

Thanks Nick, good information. Is there a way I can move this to the headgear forum?

Glad to be able to help ID it properly. Moderators can move it over there!

Why is that? Does it look like a repro?

I don't like how it is folded and sewn but that is just me..It is original insignia.

The edelweiss looks good to me, doesn't look like a post war copy. Any Issues with that?
