Opinions on this GS/Veterinary visor cap please

Hello everyone,
Today I received this visor for inspection. Basically I am pretty happy with it, but has anyone ever seen a sweatband like this?
To me it Looks like the old sweatband was taken out and another one was cut down to fit into the cap. The band can hardly be folded, its sewn very tightly to the frame. What do you think about it?

Sweatband appears to be original to the cap, and was definitely cut down--by who or when, who knows.....
