No real concrete proof to date this per '45 but I will say as a general rule (but not 100% of the time) waffle tops where used for the officer caps and polished Cotton for the other crew. With that being said, I'd sleep pretty well at night with your top.

As for the base and the insignia??? I couldn't say without further pics.
