    estand "Combat Used" officer's cap

Curious to hear what the group thinks of this cap:

    http://s1199.photobucket.com/user/mo...?sort=3&page=1

Looks to me to be a very salty Clemens Wagner cap. My questions in particular are about the bullion insignia and the repairs to the sweatband area. The wreath looks OK to me but I don't have an eye for bullion eagles. A look "under the hood" and a hands-on inspection will clear a lot up about the sweatband and whether it had metal insignia at any point.

    Thanks!

    Dave

The photo's are just about useless but it looks to be a possibility. Try to get larger and more photos.

I have the cap in hand now so I'm updating the thread with some new photos that I've uploaded to my photobucket account. Click on the thumbnails to go to the picture then click twice on the little magnifying class in the lower right corner of the pic to enlarge it. These are full rez:

        Under the hood:

        <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll268/dcarty9780/WW2%20Cap/th_DCCap_06.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DCCap_06.jpg" style=""></a><a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll268/dcarty9780/WW2%20Cap/th_DCCap_07.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DCCap_07.jpg" style=""></a><a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll268/dcarty9780/WW2%20Cap/th_DCCap_08.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DCCap_08.jpg" style=""></a><a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll268/dcarty9780/WW2%20Cap/th_DCCap_09.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DCCap_09.jpg" style=""></a>

Shot of the pasteboard behind the Wreath. There are a few errant needle holes but no holes at all where a metal wreath would have been:

          <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll268/dcarty9780/WW2%20Cap/th_DCCap_10.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DCCap_10.jpg" style=""></a>

Stitching behind the eagle in this shot. It was difficult to get a good shot of this. The thread matches that used to stitch the wreath:

          <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll268/dcarty9780/WW2%20Cap/th_DCCap_11.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DCCap_11.jpg" style=""></a>

Another of the cap "in situ" and another close up of the eagle that shows some of its backing:

Hmmmm...clickable links do not seem to be working...

Trying a link to the photoalbum. Please click on the "view all" box at the very bottom. I've tried that and it seems to be working:

              <div style="width:480px;text-align:right;"><embed width="480" height="360" src="http://pic2.pbsrc.com/flash/rss_slideshow.swf" flashvars="rssFeed=http%3A%2F%2Ffeed290.photobucke t.com%2Falbums%2Fll268%2Fdcarty9780%2FWW2%2520Cap% 2Ffeed.rss" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" /><a href="javascript:void(0);" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_geturs.gif" style="border:none;" /></a><a href="http://s290.photobucket.com/user/dcarty9780/library/WW2%20Cap" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_viewall.gif" style="border:none;" alt="dcarty9780's WW2 Cap album on Photobucket" /></a></div>
