Luftwaffe winter cap

I just recently purchased this from a good friend. Lufty winter hat. First one like this I've seen. I'd appreciate any info and input. I've looked for war time pics showing this hat but havent seen any exactly the same. Also, I am newly posting so if anyone can point out any mistakes I've made with my posts, i.e. posting in the wrong forum, please tell me.

These (latest) images show the front of the cap, which appears original to me from these thumbnail shots. Someone put a pith helmet eagle on the back which, if genuine, is a nice addition.
