late war waffen ss officers visor

Recently, this cap was for sale on a dealers site as a very late war genuine example. It was posted on another form with no certain consensus. Was this in fact a genuine cap?

It looks as if the cap is supposed to be a cw.

On picture #2 there are old stitch holes in the lining which the looping stitches have missed this time ... it's as if the liner is now in a slightly larger cap or has been moved ?

Photos of the insignia are too bright to tell much I'm afraid, it's an Overhoff skull but that's all.

It sure looks like that Ian. I also don't feel good about that liner.

                Don't think so

I would certainly stay away from this one as it is not correct material, from exterior manufacturer to interior liner. The Totencopf is questionable.

I disagree. While I may be wrong, from these pics, I'd say this cap is exactly what it is purported to be.

Can it be said with certainty that the hat, if original is a cw? What about the bill? Looks like a Luftwaffe bill to me. I may be all wet. If genuine, this cap would be early 45 at a minimum? Looks very late to me. I speak only about the cap and not insignia.

Will be interesting to see what the seller has to say about this.

When it comes to visor hats, he knows his stuff from many years of specialised collecting before he started dealing.

Visors are to him what panzer wraps are to Mr Singer

Not many in that "league of legends"
