Hello Pascal,

the cap itself looks to be a 101% original (Statni film studio find) but the trap looks reapplied post war. This type was found both without insignia and with the eagle & skull seperately attached above the single button on the front. There were also two button caps found and others with white piping. Some did not have piping at all.

Is the silver piping factory applied or is it an EM/NCO that has been period upgraded to officer rank ???

The two caps shown in post number 4 have hand applied insignia, thus are open to question as to when it was put on. Some caps in the Statni ("722" "1951") find were found like this. However there were also caps found without insignia which have had the insignia reapplied after the war.

The Statni ("722" "1951") caps with silver piping which are considered 101% period and beyond doubt are the ones with zig-zag machine applied insignia as shown below,

Conclusion... IMO is my first posted showed "Statni" an original off M43.
Front SS "trap" insignia restored (obviously handsewn), but well made and nevertheless original too

I agree, the cap and trap are both originals but most likely brought together after the war and even after the "Statni" find.

The officer caps with silver piping in the "Statni" find did not come with traps. They always had a seperate eagle and skull on the front above the button.

The officer caps with traps in the "Statni" find all had 2 buttons and white wool piping as shown in the images below. The traps were all machine stitched on,

It's a police M43 with Heer insignia ... most likely original but a bit of a dog's dinner to be honest.
