Questionable Heer(?) M43 (?)

Hey,

I picked this up today argued down to 30$ I've never owned one....thought I'd start with a beater.


I have my reservations about this. 1st investigations seem to be there were a lot of this maker " Willy Sprengpfeil" faked.

Any dates have been destroyed and some of the stitching on the main body of the hat is kind of shoddy (doubled up and off seam). I've never seen the buttons on a field cap go brass but they seem to be well worn, the rear seam of the hat has also been split.

On the other hand It legitimately looks and smells old. There has been both bevo and metal attached to it at some point as there are stitch and holes with divots to attach some type of pins?

I'm at a 50/50. but I've also never had one of these.

Please help!
