    panzer police or fire dept???

im having a tough time with this overseas cap. http://www.war-relics.com/products/smgh-18 Its a deep deep blue and there is no green piping which would make it 100% panzer police right? So im left with just a plain old firemans cap? This website has what looks like the same cap and they are calling it a panzer NCO cap... http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Waffe...s/S008768.html

    Thoughts?

Deep blue Panzer or field police? I doubt that, but lets see what the experts say. Maybe fire police or something on that level.

Yes, they both are Feuerwehr. A black field cap without the green piping is just fire.

ok, so germanmilitaria.com is completely off their rocker right? they are basically asking $1600 for a miss-identified fire cap.

I'm afraid they are, but I'm sure without ill-attempt. Drop Peter a note and he will correct it.

taking another look at the piece...looks like the eagle is hand sewn is there any justification of an original piece with a hand sewn patch? The stitches go through the wool on the front flap, then through the wool on the main hat but NOT through the blue liner. Effectively preventing the flap from being turned down to examine further. Would it be possible that the patch to a plain blue cap by someone infield?

Many original soft headgear have hand sewn insignia..sometimes with 2 insignia 1 HS / MS ..Billbert my guess for this cap would be maybe 2/3 might have MS insignia...
