Panzer OS cap - Panther tank commander I./Pz.Rgt. Brandenburg

    Hello together,

for two weeks I visited the son of an former Panther tank commander (Feldwebel) of the I./Pz.Rgt. 26, in 1945 I./Pz.Rgt. Brandenburg, doing some research for my upcoming book. I was very lucky, because I can scan some very good Panther photos from 1944. He also shows me the medals, award documents and the soldbook from his father (the soldbook with entries of 53 Panzerkampftage!). In the old box where also the old panzer cap from his father.
Inside the cap are a stamp from "1940" and on the front you can see the shadow of the removed pink soutage. Over the eagle you can find another thread, so I belive his father changed the eagle in the war, because he use this cap from 1940 till 13. april 1945 when he gets wounded in the turret of his Panther at the Oderfront.
The old photo shows him wearing this cap in june 1944 near Jassy.

    regards,

    collani

Always nice to see something for a change that is right all the way!

What will your book be about if I may ask?

                      Very interesting and promising!

I visited the Seelower Höhen during a battlefield tour; you could make box-office movies about the itensity in what happened during those final conflicts.
