    Very high visor caps

I guess this must be one of the highest visor caps I´ve ever seen.

I include a picture of my "record holder".

Maybe someone wants to add some other high ones?

    Cheers, Jack

IMO, Clemens Wagner wartime caps (from about 1941 on) regularly had the highest peaks of the "Big 5" (ie, Erel, Schelly, Pekuro, & Hoffmann).

You see it most often on the SS Kleiderkasse visors as above.

            Hi Jack,

I had started a thread of visor peaks and shapes not too long ago. You should add yours to that one and help keep it alive!

            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=648176

The highest peak I've seen in a Luftwaffe cap was this Pekuro. This particular visor had a horrible fate. A forum member bought it from an overseas dealer only to find that it had been packed into a box which was too small for it! The visor split from the base. It was returned to the dealer and I believe is still for sale in its restored condition.

Still, the highest peak I've seen of any Luftwaffe visor to date.

              9 cm

That´s a great thread Jason - I´ll add some pics to it.

Then let´s concentrate only on height here - to make it a bit more "scientific" I measured the height of the Dalluege visor cap starting from the inner side of the piping and ending on the top - the result was 9 cm.

Would be nice if you Turbo and Karl could also measure your heights - let´s see which maker snatches the record!

              Cheers,

              Jack

C'mon, that's funny - but I think it would be interesting just to know high the visors were actually built - the one Jason posted looks like the highest but measuring would help.

                    Cheers,

                    Jack

kuratorium... that was my thought exactly great illustration.

JackHun -- since you insist, I cast all of my male pride aside and pulled out a measuring tape. The outcome was suprising. Some of the visors that looked like they were pretty high were only about 7 - 8 cm. The record holder in my collection is a black Diplo visor by Armeemarinehaus (on the right) which is 9.3 cm (the one on the right is roughly the same size but an Erel and only 8 cm "tall").

Next in line is an ordinary SS officer's Kleiderkasse (probably also an Erel) with 9.0 cm.

Hope that was the info you were looking for... Kurt

Yep Kurt, then "Armeemarinehaus" is the leading manufacturer for the time being!

                        Cheers,
