With all due respect, Willi, I don't suppose your friend would be agreeable to posting pictures of his cap? One does not ever know if one does not at least ask.

I'm sorry but I do not like the M43 that started this thread in any way. It is unlikely that anything that gets presented will satisfy Jerry's desire to know why it is bad.
Now, why do you say that? If you do not like the cap, that's fine. I am not pushing it on anyone. With the rarity of such a cap taken into account, I have only asked to see an example or two of an HG Panzer officer's cap for comparison, and that has not yet been forthcoming. In lieu of that I have only received vague intimations about this or that detail with regard to mine. Perhaps it is the case that no one here, including myself of course, is any kind of an expert in this particular area, which may be attributable, again, to the scarcity of LW HG Panzer officer's caps. Be this as it may, I can have no choice but to doggedly abide by my current view - namely, that the cap is good until conclusively proven otherwise. The same held true, I believe, with my previous LW HG thread.

From a Forum's Moderator point of view, I do find the tone and comments presented here to be troubling.
Does this apply only to me? Any forum should consist of some measure of give and take, or push and pull. I did not begin this or any other thread exhibiting any kind of high-and-mighty approach. I only felt the need to respond with a bit of uncommon vigor as it was this unsavory kind of attitude that had come to me in a previous thread. I don't see what's so troubling about that. Oh, well. I guess patty-cake just isn't the game for me.

Thanks for re-posting pictures of your cap, Michael. But I had hoped you were referring to an LW HG Panzer officer's model. Your cap looks nice, nonetheless. May I see the inside of it?

        Hello Wilhelm,

This particular M43 should be considered one of the rarest...more so even than an WXX officers! There are just too many fakes of this cap and if one is offered on the market advertised as original it should be backed up with some type of solid and traceable provenance. Imho, in this case more than just loose provenanve eg... "It came from a friend of a veteran." Also, I know of one well known dealer probably still sells this exact M43 along with many other Luft cloth items...all sold by the dealer and honestly labled by him as quality fakes, the items are marketed mainly for reeanctors. I cannot add to any of the comments and criticisms already given by some very knowledgable and respected collectors regarding this M43. The only comment, particularly for such caps as these would be too post the item on this forum prior to purchase.

        Regards

I'll take that on advisory, Ed. It just happens, though, that I purchased most of my items years ago.
