Allgemeine SS General Officer's Visor Cap

    Hi Everyone,
This SS Officer's cap was part of my Grandfather's collection he brought back from the war. After doing alot of research, I am pretty confident that it is authentic, but the manufacturer label is one of the most faked labels out there so I'd like to hear the expert's opinions:
    Hat Maker
    ludwig vogele mützenfabrik karlsruhe

    Thanks for your help!

Fake eagle and skull on a W german hat...plastic beading at edge of sweat band, and the soft sweat shield in the top should be stiff and made of a fore runner of plastics and this type was not manufactured in ww2..more red flags, but this should suffice.Good halloween costume hat anywaY , and worth about 25.00US.

Maybe he collected and got nailed by a faker, or maybe you were hoping for a windfall, but whatever the reason, I agree.....totally bogus to the max. Sorry.

Agreed--some sort of postwar BRD hat with bad SS insignia.
That is a postwar Vogele mark, and to make it easy, SS officer visors used a black velvet band, while this has Trikot.

They do not totally fake Lugers per se, but do mess with luger parts, but, I detect your frustrations from the luger comment (and it needs posted on the guns section for comments ), but its too bad gramps didn't tell someone in the family more about his collection before he passed(try asking his other siblings) , but then again in hobbys where such bucks are commanded for SS stuff, fakers must have nailed him in the 80s for this hat. How old was he when he passed, and do you know what division in WW2 was he in? its not the end of the world, its just the luck of the draw. When inheritances are passed on, some are winners , and some are losers. Did he have other items he, for sure, brought home from the war in the inheritance? If so post them if you have em.
