If that cap is real, it is a HUGE bargain!

Or does the price reflect the state of the extremely depressed market today?

Again, if the cap is real, 4000 euros for an authentic general's visor IS a HUGE bargain, let alone it is named.

If I gave you 4000 euros, would you please get me another authentic EREL general visor?

Obersalzberg, I have to agree! It is absolutely insane to pay this kind of money for an old lid. Think of all the groceries you could buy for that. Most families even in the Western world don't have this kind of money left over if they saved up for a year.

That said, I'd also grab an original EREL General's visor for Euro 4000.00 and be very happy with it. Some of us headgear collectors are complete Maniacs.

Those auctions are probably a decade old or more, judging form the prices. Kadgien may have boufght himself a "new old stock" cap when he was promoted - even if HE didn't make General until '44, whis cap may have been constructed in the early '40's.

Good point Don, that thought never crossed my mind before. Did they really have several years old of stock kept in stores? I thought it was the Germans, not Toyota who invented the Just In Time inventory managing system...
