Although I own several good images of the m40 variant in wear, here's a neat image with good uniform detail. Each man wears this rare cap...I wonder how many got destroyed because they weren't 'standard'?

Although not often..They were still being worn with soutache this late in the game..A while back I had a rifle green M40 brought home by a 45th Div vet..captured POW at the Alban Hills spring 1944...Billbert

Two more interesting images from Italy.
Note the officer billed tropical M40's being worn in the first image. I find this one to be of particular interest because my uncle played hockey for the 2NZEF while he was in Italy. Might have been quite a match if the New Zealanders had taken these guys prisoner. Also I wonder what we would make of those hockey jersey's today if one was posted on WAF with the over-sized Indian Legion patch on it. You can see the regular size Indian Legion patch on the officer wool greatcoat (tropical ?) and later NCO continental tunic also being worn. Rare stuff.
In the second image, please note the typical leather jack-boots being worn with the tropical uniform in Italy 43-45. We are seeing this all the time on this thread. No images so far of the tropical boots being worn,

Another image of officers in Italy 43-45, wearing tropical M40's without silver piping. Again this shows how a second model tropical M40 such as the ones made by Kern are a rare beast,
