He also is wearing the old cord system, as worn until early 1934 with his cap (this was often done in the earlierst stage of 1934 and especially by PL serving for the NSBO) and a very thick piping along the top. I think the piping might be golden. The photograph anyway is from 1934 or about, but not 1933 as late 1933 the visored cap was agreed for wearing by Hitler (see further on).

Before January 1934 there was only one variation cap in use, which was the kepi in the style as for the SA. The SS started wearing the visored cap in the fall of 1932. From spring 1933 it was their standard headgear. For political leaders the visored cap was introduced with order 1/34 when Hitler had agreed the new PL uniform. This was sanctioned January 20 upon an agreement with Robert Ley. In the order it was said: Tellermütze mit braunem Schirm und Mützenkordel. The order was published in issue 64 from January 31, 1934 in the "Verordnungsblatt der Reichsleitung der NSDAP".

Do I understand well the shown cap was said to be from 1927/1928? Then they are wrong and do not know what they are talking about! That's a simple fact. They may not ever having seen official regulations! Believe what you think you have to believe about the shown cap. For me it is obvious!

Post 14: the first photograph is a 1934 photograph. The wearing of the eagle was ordered as such in early 1934; the second photograph is from 1933. All others are also from 1934, but not from 1933 or earlier.
    hallo ,
the first photo comes from an illustrated book about hans schemm from December 1933, so the picture from cannot be later, to accept this please I than fakt.
I would also not like to argue about the cap, we will be able to lead a normal discussion.
in the illustrated book other pictures are also the interesting caps point...
I would not like to sell the cap here or somewhere else also.
    greeting
    Andreas

The cap shown is not an early cap from 1932-1933 or so, the style of the cap tells this. The form was anyway later and such should have colored pipings, as these were introduced with orders from January 20, 1934. Before that practically always the SA-kepi style of cap was worn by NSDAP leaders.
In my opinion the shown cap might be for an organization not known to me. It is anyway not common. Details you can find in volume 3 from "Headgear of Hitler's Germany", volume 3. Pages 27 through 126 discuss headgear for political leaders.

This is a normal discussion and I was trying to explain things how they developed. Yes, I accept Schemm. He might have been one of the persons that did wear the new type of visored cap before its official introduction upon experimental basis. The cap worn is not standard however for a political leader.

In spring 1933 the designs for the new uniform were created by professor Trost and shown to Hitler. For the time being the Gauleiter had to wear the uniform for Reichsinspekteur (this was a look-a-like uniform for the SA, worn with the SA kepi form of headgear). In August 1933 the visored cap was not yet an official part for the political leaders dress (note from the Reichszeugmeisterei). An RZM-list from August did not include a special headdress for Pol.leaders yet (included were the kepi for the SA, SS and headgear for HJ and DJ).

September 28, 1933 it was announced the new political leaders uniform was finally arranged. It was specifically mentioned that only those with a permission would be allowed to wear it. One can understand that the new uniform was not ready immediately, as taylors should get their instructions, as should also manufacturers for headgear. Samples were to be made, which had to be excepted by the RZM. After this things were set on going!

Schemm, as the leader for the NS.Studentenbund was such a person without any doubt. He will have had a permission. As mentioned before the cap he is wearing is not the official authorized form. That is obvious by the worn thick piping (such form of piping was since early fall also in use by the HJ). It is known that in late February 1934 most political leaders that were oathed had to wear the old uniform, while the new one was not yet available.

I know the other shown photographs. Have seen them before, during my research for volume 3 for "Headgear of Hitler's Germany" during the years 1996 and 1997. I did not know they came from the mentioned book. I thought I have tried to explain enough. Try also to except regulations that officially were authorized. It is for many years known (to me over 35) that with photographs things were worn and visible that were in no way official.

By the way: the first Organisationsbuch is from 1936. Before that date the 1934 "Uniformen der Braunhemden" from Freiherr von Eelking was the bible for NSDAP party-uniforms. The man (far right foreground) with he shown photograph seems to me to be from "Der Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten".

Mr. Weitze is offering a very similar visor cap as well:

Among my pictures there are even two with a cloth-covered visor...
