                It is a Cobra mutze , they say on this website that cobra mutze are faked

                "COBRA DIE GUTE MUTZE unknown Visors show the logo with words Sonderklasse or Sonderausfuhrung. Extensively faked"

                So is it a good one or not ?

                  Hallo arnoldini

                  I am the author of the statement you quote. But I had the patience to study the question:

                  Fake Cobra:

                  http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ighlight=cobra

                  Real Cobra:

                  You have also to consult the threads about obscure wartime makers labels, german chaplain, janke characteristics, polizei visors, fantasy maker labels, etc. That said, I confirm my personal opinion. A real Cobra

                          Not to resurrect some zombies, but only because we are facing one of the most elusive producers (yet attractive) Conrad Brauner = Cobra of Magdeburg. Currently there is this on eBay Italy:

                          http://www.ebay.it/itm/322004327879?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

                          Please note that the images are extremely convincing, inter alia the rays are exactly matching eight per side, and the visor appears rightly old-aged and faded, especially the interior. However the sweatshield has a single turn of seam and the written Sonderausführung is printed in block letters. On this forum we have seen in more than a decade so far:
                          - A similar pattern but with two laps of seam, as seen usually on Cobras;
                          - The cap of this thread but it has two rows of stitching and the Sonderausführung written in italics, in my opinion an original visor;
                          - A Sonderklasse Gothic with two rounds of sewing, in my opinion an original visor;
                          - A Sonderklasse in italics with two rounds of sewing, in my opinion an original visor;
                          - Two crushers with the rhomboidal sweatshield, a single seam and the lone silver logo (without indication of a class) on those there were conflicting opinions;
                          - A KM donald-duck with a silver logo with unpaired rays (9 - 8) and the Sonderklasse written in italics clearly different from those mentioned above, in my opinion not a good one;
                          - Some common fakes as the above one but in black.

                          I play with open cards: my opinion is negative, but I would like to be proved wrong because it is still very nice. Let me know what you think, so as to solve this problem once and for all.

                          Marcello

                            Hi Marcello

                            Nice to hear from you again although about my sailor cap I asumed since I bought it in 2007 it was a fake,I tried so many years posting in forums than someone light me with the cap wishing it was period but never good news from it and the real thing is I spent 750 euros in a crap and no refund from dealer and it was happened because I posted later purchasing and that,s all....

                            By the way that crap will be forever with me(I suppose nobody wanted own in his collection)without refund and never turn in a real period Km cap as I wished when I bought it as my first Km cap

                            Regards

                            Fernando

                              Hallo Fernando

                              I remember the story that you tell me. Never mind: just to give you an example, on this forum there is an SS officer feldmutze totally original and complete that about thirty years ago I almost gave to a friend just because it was faded and I did not like it. I could go on and on ... these things happen to all collectors. Rather, this might be an opportunity to clarify the different types of Cobra production.

                              Marcello
