          cap

Looks like a normal HV administration officer's cap. Gebirgsjaeger officers wore visor hats or Bergmuetzen and not overseas caps as far as I know.

Thats the "old colour question"...there are many Gebirgsjaeger caps with dark green!!

And no, they wore not only Bergmutzen and visors hats...
            They had overseas cap too!!

            Best regards,
            Koeti

Gjr hats also with very light green...

the old question is for collectors or veterans?

we are collector and we "think about" war time....

but in war time were others problems not for a piping or the uniform's colors mixed....

is always from long time the same question, you are right!

                cap

If you have ANY photos of Gebirgstruppen wearing overseas caps please post them. That would be very interesting and instructive. I knew five Gebjaeger and none of them would have been caught dead wearing an overseas cap (2 were officers). If your cap had an Edelweiss on the side it might look like a Geb. officer could have worn it. Otherwise the color piping I see appears to be admin.

Would be Jager at best but appears to be Administration to me as well.

                    Hello Matthias

Have a look at the cocard...
Could you please make a better pic from the cocard in detail.

This one looks blue to me, like an luftwaffen one.....

Here is mine but I would never risk to call it GJR
Only when we have it from "first hand" we can be sure what unit it was.

Matthias, your cockade is not 100% "text book" but of course is OK and most probably period applied IMHO

                            Servus Gebirglers,

Here's a GJ wearing an overseas cap...though he doesn't look too happy about it :

I have no doubt that Gebirgsjaegers wore side caps on occasion but simply that the one shown was not a Gebirgsjaeger's cap IMO.
