Below is an original cap 101%. It came out of a motel buy directly from the veteran with some of the nicest vet brought back SS helmets that I have ever seen. You can read a lot more here about this type of SS M43 discussed in detail on this thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=SS+panzer+M43
Do not let anyone tell you that they are bad just because they have "beige/brown" coloured bias material. The prejudice against "biege/ brown" bias is a collector myth which has entered certain circles like a "Chinese Whisper". Of course some fakers may have used "biege/ brown bias but it was used first by several period manufacturers of M43 caps like yours made before May 1945,

p.s. note the double row of stitching along the top of the trap. This might be a certain manufacturers footprint ?Last edited by 90th Light; 11-16-2012, 06:16 AM.

Here also is an SS black panzer version which is very similar with an equally good backround. Again you can read the detailed discussion here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=SS+panzer+M43

p.s. Again note the double row of stitching along the top of the trap. Manufacturers footprint ?Last edited by 90th Light; 11-16-2012, 06:18 AM.

Here is another one which was on WAF recently. Different type of button hole & maker but it is very close and met with approval.
You can see more of it here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=631147

p.s. only a single row of stitching along the top of the trap. Different manufacturers, different footprint ?Last edited by 90th Light; 11-16-2012, 06:19 AM.
