    For me it looks like a army cap, with a CA-eagle on it....

      Keep in mind the early examples were cut like Heer caps - see this example from Bill Shea's site.

            Impossible to know if this side cap on Estand started his life as Heer or Kriegsmarine.
            Only one proof is needed, it's the Kriegsmarine reception marking as in the cap from Bill Shea web site.

              To me the example on the estand besides being IMO original and early has been reworked and or resized during the war..perhaps during the reto the new grommets were added to make it servicable.. Billbert
