This is what concerns me about this one.

The bullion eagle as mentioned in Panzer Generals Sidecap#1.

The pristine condition of the Trikot exterior cloth and adornments yet the lining and schweißLeder are stained to a hard to believe degree (IMO)

        I've made this comparrison.

IMO, quite worrying regarding how close the match is but the N&T cap image is not high enough res to be sure.

          Hi Ben

Glad you started these threads. Would like to hear others thoughts on these as well ? Not sure these two caps are a match. But the interior wear compared to the exterior does not look good from the photo. Gonna miss that grommet talk though

          cheers

Ben - Is this really hard wear or just the effect of the photographer's light on this type and color of fabric?

P.S. to Chris, etc. - Sorry to see the original thread shut down as there was some really good and educational discussion going on there.

Maybe Glenn can transfer the grommet observations over to this thread?

                Hard to tell.
I have no doubt that the rayon lining is a period material and so is the little SchweißLeder. Whether or not the cap is period and the wear and staining as well is another question though. I don't think I could be sure unless I had it in my hands.

I would like to see the rayon underneath the leather.

                  Thanks Leroy,

I can not speak for the other Chris but "no worries", I am getting use to that on WAF now

The grommets in depth was working and I was also hoping to also make a bit of progress on the study of eagle/ cockade attachment by the various makers.

These are the types of studies that Richard enjoyed and it helps us to understand some of the perspectives that he was looking at the items from,

                  Chris

The eagle on this cap...to me appears to be a gold cellon eagle from a Kriegsmarine cap. I noticed this in the other threads posted about this cap.....the backing appears to me to be dark navy blue. The eagle itself looks like the cellon eagles Ive seen on some naval officers caps.......however I am no collector of kriegsmarine items so I may be wrong.

"LucyStrike23" and "derka" were probably adding more to it than me but thank for letting us know that it was worth while for those taking it on board,

Looks to be bullion on black to me (which would work either on Panzer or many KM caps).

It is not about Richard,it is about the hats...Several can't seem to grasp that though and I am not going to spend all of my time deleting such (personal) comments.

That is why it was closed as will these threads should it continue.
