    Fake WSS Panzer visor or my lucky day?

    How about this alleged WSS Panzer visor that I've been offered to buy?

    Do I run for my life or what?

    The visor looks and feels like thin black plastic, but I do have an original very-late-war Army doctor's cap (bought on this site)with a very similar peak. Is the Alkero-logo wartime, post-war or fake? What about the eagle?

    I let the pix (which could be better, of course) speak for themselves. Enough for a verdict?

            Hallo AndersB

            In my opinion, a cap completely rebuilt without much precision:

            - The piping, even if of a type used sometimes on original caps, is mounted in a rather rough way;
            - The band of velvet seems as a very short foreskin;
            - Never seen a full stirndruckfrei system on Alkero;
            - The lining is visibly sewn in a very approximate way (not connected to the apparent restoration of the sweatband);

            - The label (the highlight):

            I think there's enough to conclude

              Thanks. Yes, it's pretty crude. I assume that the eagle is fake too(?)

                It looks to me like someone gave up abut 3/4 of the way through a rebuild...

                  lovely stirnduchfrei system. Pekuro could be proud!

                  i'm sad... this is real bad.

                    The eagle may be an original 3 pin unmarked Assmann, as found on the 'Alteste' fakes.

                      THX! Interesting: I assume that by "alteste" you mean "oldest", i.e. early fakes. Were these original unmarked Assmann perhaps availble cheaply back in the 70:s (or whenever the first fakes started to show up)?

                      I just this eagle a thread of it's own: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...75#post5505575

                        There is a whole range of fakes which had the words 'Alteste Berlin' on the sweat diamond, see the stickie thread at the top of this forum.

                        On the clearer shot I believe the eagle is a fake.
