I am not agree with this theory because have a look on the condition of the cap. It´s near unworn. So it´s not possible that the sweatband was replaced during the war because of much wearing.
The attached sweatband is made of leather and I think it´s not replaced because of the very good condition of the cap.

Hat looks great, but imho, the sweatband was professionally replaced during the war.

I'm with casey76. I don't beleave the change of the sweatband was during the war, because of the mint condition of the cap.
The cap is for shure a very beautiful one, but the sweatshild is replaced from a tailor with less knowledget about EREL caps and in my opinion also the corcade and eagle changed.
The 3D corcade was not typical for EREL caps.
I bet under the cloth eagle are holes from pins of an metal aluminium/eagle.

However a beautiful cap but with that tailor work nothing for my collection.

It's also a question of sale because everybody say stop there's something wrong.
