A repro imo pm me i might be able to help you out
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Can you guys give some tips on what's wrong with it?

What jumped into my eyes is the gray "shade" of the outer circle of the eagle's wreath which is the most visible on the bottom left side of it. Is that normal?

I got one of these caps from my local junk shop here in New Orleans, and the Wehrmacht eagle trapizoid "IS REAL" but the cap I'm told is NOT. Well at least by half of the experts that examined my cap, the other half told me that late war stuff is OFTEN a real crap shoot at times and examined the stitching (which does NOT glow) under the old blacklight test. It was also taken out for the old "BURN" test and it passed that test as well. Most of my M-43's are constructed differently including "bakelight buttons" some are single stiched, and some are double. Some like my Deutche paratrooper late war/early tan & water pattern cammo doesn't have the fake fold down stitch you see on army ones, and has 4-5 stitches all around the bill of this cap. But is confirmed real by many of the Deutche paraphernalia dealers, and to be exact... The TOP 3 sites out there(you can figure out who they are if you know this subject matter well) You know these TOP dealers in Reich headgear if are a fan like all of us in here. So it's a tough call, but the experts in here are amazing and REALLY know this stuff. I would put this in the back of my collection, mark it with a question mark for now. I often just watch other posts of my "similar" items and watch posts... Oh!! and for all that you hold dear....NEVER EVER EVER sell it as "REAL" or a "I'M NOT SURE". For that is what takes ALL the fun out of collecting for some, and ruins it for everyone. I personally take a hammer to "ALL" my repro's I have taken in over the years , unless it is a repro like my officers D.A.K. M-43 that I LOVE to wear out on ocassion. Because the "REAL" ones I have are TOO expensive to replace if it got taken or lost, or if I was robbed of it out. Losing a $55.00 NICE repro piece you use is a lot more cost affective, than paying for a original replacement. Just IMHO
