all original m42 caps ive studied on waf have no central seam on top crown.
is this so?
or were some m42s made with a seam going down the middle on top?
thanks very much in advance.
another question.
when new, fresh issue, m42s sit tall on the head and dont look 'right'.
did soldiers commonly alter then to 'crush' this height? a new m42 somehow doesnt seem to look 'right' without a crushed in top peak.
last question. were long safety pins (hat pins?) often used with m42s on the crown to pinch them together and produce a tighter 'sidecap' fit?
thanks a lot in advance!
