    Feldmutze opinions

This Army feldmutze had a soutache at one time but I think its either a field made cap or a movie cap as it has a join on the flap on both sides of cap,no grommets but appears very worn.Your opinions please.

sorry for ignorance but what does that mean?Is it reworked during ww2 or is it a post war rework from a Dutch cap?
            Thanks

Germans captured large quantities of dutch uniforms (and caps, equipmet etc). Mostly reissued to second/third rang soldiers and often seen on pics. Many where reissued to volunteer wehrmacht units (ROA, Cossack etc)

Here you can see your side cap as it used to be during the time in Holland before 1940:

Your conversion is wartime. These side caps can also be found uncoverted (with eagle and cockare added wartime).

Try a search with something like 'dutch coversion'. Im sure there will pop up some interesting info, caps and tunics.

Hope this helped. Like your cap very much.
