I m thinking not so much a fake as a post war cap for civilian sale...Billbert

Wasn't there a similar cap discussed recently? I believe the supposed SS M-43 was in fact a badged-up postwar Austrian Bundesheer cap. It sure looked like this one.

I see how the infamous name 'Mauthausen' in the maker mark can mislead a collector (made by KZ inmates?), but in fact it's also a regular name of a town in Oberösterreich.
