It is looking pretty good so far. The eagle may be reapplied...hard to tell in these photos. Soutache looks original with only the exterior view.

Does the top piping join at the very back...or a couple inches up on the left side when viewed in photo #4. It almost looks like both. Not common to find pz officers signal caps!

Thanks for all the help. I hope your right Mike. It checked out but cloth is not my strong point. It is vet aquired also. Richard, it is joined at the side. I think the back is slightly frayed so in the pic it appears to be a seam, but it isn't.

                      Wow !

Is it "signals" yellow or "recon" yellow with a bit of real use & soiling ? Either way, a very hard to find cap at the best of times

Also is that a bevo silver wire officers eagle ? If so they are as hard as hens teeth to find and lets make that a "double wow"

Thank you for showing it ,

                      Chris

close wiews of inside grommets (brass ?) would be interesting.
soutache color is faded golgelb imo, so for pzaufkl.

I didn't even think about the soutache possibly being faded, surely not a stretch here. I have seen a number of original caps with the piping in that exact spot. Officers flat wire eagles on black are indeed rare, but so is the entire cap.

Richard, it seems there are remains of goldgelb thread visible on soutache.
Howard, maybe you could check the color of soutache behind the flap it passes trought, where soutache's departure has been protected, hence its "true" initial yellow (gold or lemmon) color shoud has been preserved.

                              Derka,

I probably was not very clear...I am agreeing with your color assessment on the soutache, it is most likely goldgelb...but faded.
