It has one too many makers stamps, one from Germany one from Austria, make up your mind.

I think that cap been repaired that's why it has two stamps ; one of the maker and one of repair company. The stamp with X si for repaired items if I'm not wrong.

Very interesting...the markings do look legit, I did not have an explanation for them though. Can anyone else back this explanation up?

Valuable piece of info if validated.

It seems that there are two sizes: 53 and 54. The buffer 1940 is very worn and the other not. The badge seems crudely stitched and not the diamond shape. It all seems weird ...

I suggest it is a reworked cap (assembled mid-war for rear eschelon and foreign volunteer troops) made from an earlier cap and/or pieces of earlier caps. The Graz stamp is probably the correct date and size. Original piece missing the eagle IMO.
